Looking for a way to straighten your teeth without wires and brackets?

Say hello to Invisalign!

Invisalign is a revolutionary system that combines 3D technology and the science of orthodontics to create clear plastic aligner trays to gently reposition teeth in a discreet yet affordable manner. Clear aligner trays are becoming one of the most popular ways to straighten your teeth. Dr. Joyce Chi is excited to offer this treatment to teenagers and adults at Procopio Towle Dental Office.

How do clear aligner trays work?

Clear aligner trays are meant to move the teeth in small steps until they have reached their desired final positions. Using 3D technology and special “digitized” molds, the aligner tray laboratory fabricates a series of aligner trays for the entire treatment. These are designed to fit precisely over the dental arch. Each aligner tray is worn for approximately two weeks during which the next tray in the series is used. This sequence of trays may be anywhere from 12 trays to 48, depending on the severity of the misalignment and the compliance by patients.

Unlike metal braces, Invisalign aligner trays make it easy to keep your teeth clean. There are no metal parts that food can get stuck to and brushing and flossing your teeth is so much easier! You just remove the aligner trays, brush, and floss, and slip the trays back on your teeth. No more frustrating wires and brackets to deal with!

For best results, a dentist with the training and certification to work with Invisalign must treat patients. This particular method of realignment is not recommended for children as it requires regular compliance, and is, therefore, most commonly used for teenagers and adults. The best candidates for Invisalign are those with mild to moderate misalignment of the bite and dental arch that can easily be addressed with this treatment.
